About Martha

From Loss to Purpose

I’m Martha Cañizares, a devoted mom and corporate professional who has found a new path through art, beauty, and healing. In 2015, my world was forever changed when I lost my two youngest daughters in a tragic accident caused by a drunk driver. From this profound grief, Two Healing Hearts was born, a sanctuary that emerged from my personal journey of loss and transformation.

Art and travel have been my solace and inspiration. I find joy walking through the charming streets of Florence, tracing the steps of incredible Renaissance artists like Da Vinci, Caravaggio, and Michelangelo. I come alive in the presence of impressionist masterpieces at the Art Institute of Chicago and cherish the memories of a cooking class in Morocco. My travels have led me to seek out beauty and art wherever I go. Whether it's capturing stunning sunrise timelapse videos on the beach or immersing myself in my extensive collection of over 60,000 photos, every moment of beauty and creativity helps to soothe my soul. About the two daughters I lost

About Alexis Musumeci, 24

Alexis worked hard to join the U.S. Air Force, where she loved to serve. She took on every challenge with a can-win attitude and was proud to put on rank quickly. She earned the prestigious John Levitow Award at USAF Airman Leadership School. She was quickly progressing toward her Bachelor's degree while enlisted. Alexis' goals reflect her attitude towards life where she was always thinking of others and always striving.

She had a whiteboard as a daily reminder of her personal goals which is a testament to her positive outlook on life and vibrant personality.  A quote on that whiteboard said, “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars”. This quote inspires me to continue this journey of healing.

About Brittany Musumeci, 23

Brittany worked at a small-town sandwich shop during her High School years. She saved to buy her violin, her first iPod, her makeup, and jewelry. She was the High School sweetheart and Homecoming Queen. She worked hard and was dedicated to achieving her goals. Just 4 months before the accident, Brittany graduated with honors from the Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Violin Performance. She planned to open a violin studio where she could teach and bring music to underprivileged kids. Brittany was often described as an old soul, which fit her perfectly. She liked to dress in classic 1940s and 1950s style, with impeccable makeup, hair, and clothes. Brittany’s grace, resilience, and unwavering spirit were truly captivating. Every note of classical music brings me back to her, evoking the exquisite melodies of her violin and the beauty she radiated.
